Project Manager, Millwright/ Installation Supervisor

Position Profile

GMB Heavy Industries is a respected supplier of custom designed equipment to steel manufacturers throughout North America. Due to its continued penetration of the market and sales growth, GMB is seeking a Project Manager to join our team. This position would perform a critical role in the company ensuring that GMB equipment is managed with focus on cost, quality and timing. The Project Manager would coordinate the project to completion leading the onsite installation activities. A critical component of the position is meticulous planning and organization that ensures seamless trouble free installation. The Project Manager will be the “face” of the company as they interact with our customers and our employees on an ongoing basis.

Coordinate internal resources and third parties/vendors for the flawless execution of projects
Ensure that all projects are delivered on-time, within scope and under budget
Support the development of the project scope and objectives, involving all relevant internal and external participants
Develop a detailed project plan to monitor and track progress including resource requirements. Communicate progress on a regular basis to all participants.
Manage changes to the project scope, schedules and budgets obtaining appropriate approvals as required. Track project performance, specifically to analyze the successful completion of short and long-term goals
Measure project performance using appropriate tools including: Microsoft Project, Open Issue Matrix, Excel and various finance tools
Organize and maintain comprehensive project documentation
Liaise with engineering to develop scope detail, schedules, internal and job site contingencies
Support and maintain relationships with the customer and third parties/vendors
Meet with clients to clarify specifications and define requirements of each project
Meet budgetary objectives and make adjustments to project constraints based on financial analysis
Ensure that correct resources are coordinated for the installations including: personnel, equipment, rentals, hotels and other tools as required.
Ensure that personnel have the required training/certification for the project.
Supervise all on site staff to ensure quality of pre-assembly work, liaise with shipping department to guarantee that all materials are delivered to job site on time.
Plan provision of all required tools, rentals, etc. as required and coordinate with customer as appropriate.
Identify and address quality issues and shop-to-site, company-to-customer, and design-to-performance problems.
Attend conferences and training as required to maintain proficiency
Perform other related duties as assigned
Reports –

The Project Manager will report to Engineering Manager, and will organize all job related work documents, checklists, budget tracking, expense reports, matrix of installation personnel and their certifications, etc.
Attributes –

Technical knowledge and 5 years practical experience with the installation of custom designed heavy machinery.
Millwright certification preferred.
Excellent understanding of mechanical assembly and detail drawings.
Ability to source supplies and services on job site if necessary.
High level of mechanical aptitude coupled with ability to lead and direct people.
High level of English language communication skills to effectively perform this role, and provide clear and concise directions to installers.
Excellent knowledge of Microsoft software applications including Excel and Word.
Bilingual French is an asset but is not mandatory.
Possess valid passport and driving license and be able to travel freely to the U.S.A.
Proven working experience in project management

This position offers an annual salary of $70,000 – $90,000 and includes a Health and Dental Benefit Package.
